I saw Juno last night, as well as Justice League: The New Frontier. I also watched Tin Man in its entirety, but I'd rather not talk about that. How does the study of cosmology relate to astronomy? Cosmology is the overall study of the universe, and astronomy is about the "Current Universe", or what we can see. What was the radiation era? For the first second, only elementary particles, such as protons, neutrons, and electrons, could exist. But the universe quickly cooled and expanded. Electromagnetic radiation [light] was the most important thing in the universe and hence this time was known as the radiation era. When the universe had cooled to the point where the simplest atoms [hydrogen] could form, radiation no longer dominated and matter took over. The cosmic microwave background radiation was produced at this time. What are the two possible fates of the universe? One possiblity is that the Universe will come to an end in the opposite of a Big Bang called The Big Crunch. The other possibility is that we live in an Eternal Universe that will never come to end. Why is it unlikely that dark matter is composed mostly of stars? Because stars shimmer and emit light. That is what stars do. Y'know. A big ball of radioactive gas usually creates light, not destroys it. Or something. Despite the gases, dust, and stars that compose the universe, it is still mostly made up of ____________________. empty space Observed matter not measurable by current methods is called ____________________. dark matter The only known galaxy exhibiting blue shift is the ____________________. Andromeda galaxy The discovery that most galaxies have red shifts implies that ____________________. the universe is expanding The ____________________ states that all matter and energy in the universe exploded ten to twenty billion years ago and began expanding in all directions. Big Bang theory Discovered in 1965, cosmic background radiation supported the ___________________. Big Bang theory What evidence was discovered in 1965 that supports the big bang theory? [This looks familiar...] If the beginning of the universe had happened as outlined in the big bang theory, then remnants of the explosion should exist as radiation at microwave wavelengths. Scientists believe that they found these remnants when they detected cosmic background radiation in 1965. What is the big bang theory? [...Is this test repeating itself? Really? :\] The big bang theory is a scientific theory describing the origin of the universe in a gigantic explosion sometime between 10 and 20 billion years ago. What force is theorized to hold the universe together? Gravity, because of gravity, stars, gas, and dust collect into larger units called galaxies, and galaxies group into clusters and superclusters. Define universe. The universe is defined as everything physical that exists in space and time, including all matter and energy that exists, now, in the past, and in the future. I have a headache. :P But grandpa is here with me at school today, and there's only one other person besides the teacher and grandpa in the room, and he's mostly harmless from what I can tell. [He's kinda cute, too, in a scruffy-and-malnourished way.] So I haven't actually seen Juno, but I really want to because I heard that it is very good. I downloaded the soundtrack from iTunes, and wow. The music is what I have been longing for, style-wise. Almost every song makes make embarrassing noises and wriggle with glee. So far, my absolute favorite from the album is the first one, All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar, with Loose Lips and Tire Swing by Kimya Dawson tied for a close second. So I've been invited to prom by the school, to my great surprise. You'd think that they wouldn't allow me to because I am, technically, homeschooled. Huh. Still, I got my dress [which has to have 4 inches taken off the bottom, ack!] and shoes, as well as some Spanx [<3], hair swirlies, and clip-on earrings. This makes happier than I should be. Really. So I'm totally trying to write, but my brain seems to be cockblocking any creativity trying to flow. If only there was a foolproof way to de-stress and invigorate the imagination. I signed up for 30sexyfics, and I claimed Jason Todd, but I need need need to get my work done before I can even begin to write some hot Jay action. You know what's coming, then. ( Science Junk. ) By the way, I'm not sure if the icon I'm using is from MildredMilton, or MonkeyCrackMary. Or maybe it's someone else's. I forget where I got it, and I think I should credit. I have more news for later, but for now, I have things I need to remember for class. Can I go to bed now? ;_;

I just finished my contribution to the school paper, which I hope will be a hit. Maybe. Something. Whatever. I worked hard on it, looking up good products that are relatively affordable so that a high school student could get the things they want/need. :o
My first day was today. Not as terrifying as I thought it would be. Still kinda scary, but the scariest of the classes is German I, but I think that I can handle that fairly easily. English was always my strong point, and I'm taking Imaging (with Photoshop CS3!) and Web Design (with DreamWeaver CS3!!), so I'm pretty geeked about that, too. I have portfolio art and yearbook with Miss Worth, who is now Mrs. DeKett. Then I have Physical Science in Lab, which shouldn't be too hard. Except it will take longer to finish than any of my other lab lessons I've had in the past. I think I may have to switch from Imaging to Advanced Imaging, though, since I've already taken Imaging. Twice. |
